The full form of NOTA is the None Of The Above.

The word NOTE is associated with elections and any citizen can use it by casting his vote. If the voter, by casting his vote, feels that the candidate of any party standing hence is unable to win, he should not vote for any candidate by pressing the NOTA button provided in the electronic voting machine or EVM.

In the voting machine you will find it written as a NOTE and there is also a cross on the machine. The NOTE button is located at the bottom of the candidate name list on the EVM machine. The EVM consists of a voting unit, a control unit and a VVPAT machine and can contain the names of up to 15 candidates, and in the spot with 15 candidates for a parliamentary seat, NOTA ranks 16th.

This allows individuals the freedom to choose any candidate and to express that the individual is not good enough to rule over them. It is a fundamental human right to freedom of expression when it is not in favor of the candidate

The disadvantages of NOTA are that other citizens may be influenced by other citizens who vote for the NOTA option without understanding each candidate’s platforms. Options that may be satisfactory can be excluded due to the NOTA option, which would be questionable due to the voting system in the electoral college.
