What is HDMI
High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a proprietary audio / video interface for transmitting uncompressed video data and compressed or uncompressed digital audio data from an HDMI-compliant source device, such as a display controller, to a monitor compatible computer, video projector, digital television or digital audio device. HDMI is a digital replacement for analog video standards.

Types of HDMI
Standard Cable – Also referred to as Category 1 HDMI cable. It operates at pixel speeds of 75Mhz and supports a bandwidth of around 2.23Gbps. It is suitable for transmitting an uncompressed 1080i signal.
High Speed Cable – Also referred to as Category 2 HDMI cable. It operates at 340 MHz pixel speeds and supports a bandwidth of around 10.2 Gbps. It is suitable for the latest 1440p and WQXGA resolutions.
