CISF | Structure and organisation :-

The CISF is headed by an Indian Police Service officer with the rank of Director General, assisted by an IPS officer of additional rank. Director General. The force is divided into nine sectors (Airport, North, North-East, East, West, South, Training, South-East, Central) and also has a fire service wing.

Being a central Indian police agency and having a high presence of officers of the Indian Police Service, the CISF follows the same rank and insignia as other police organizations in India. Non-gazetted (enrolled) officers and members use the same rank as other Indian police forces. There is no parity between the ranks of defense forces and police forces as there is no government established relativity in terms of rank.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) :- Special Security Group

In 2006, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), based on the recommendations of the Intelligence Bureau, formed a special unit called the Special Protection Group (SSG) to provide security cover to those designated by the Ministry of Home Affairs. It came into existence on 17 November 2006.

This unit is responsible for providing physical security, evacuation, mobile and stationary security cover to persons nominated by the Ministry of Home Affairs. For a person to be eligible for security cover by a CISF special unit, the Intelligence Bureau and other secret police agencies are required to specify the threat after a detailed threat analysis, often referred to as Apart from the CISF, the government also uses the National Security Guard (NSG), CRPF, BSF and ITBP for personal security cover.
