What is full form of RTI?

The full form of RTI is the Right To Information. Right To Information (RTI) Act 2005, is an Act of the Parliament of India for citizens to secure access to information under the control of Public Authorities in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of any public authority.

The right to information includes access to information which is held by or under the control of any public authority and includes the right to inspect the work, document, records, taking notes, extracts or certified copies of documents/records and certified samples of the materials and obtaining information.

Who is RTI officer?

The Central Act gives this responsibility to: Public Information Officers (PIO): who are responsible for receiving and managing RTI applications. Assistant Public Information Officers (APIO) who are responsible only for receiving applications and passing them on to PIOs.

What is the RTI fee?

At present, the fee for requesting information through an RTI application from the CPIO of Central public authorities is Rs. 10/-. Most of the State Governments too have prescribed the RTI fee of Rs. 10 for filing of RTI applications.

How can I use RTI?

An applicant who desires to obtain any information under the RTI Act can make a request through this Web Portal to the Ministries/Departments of Government of India. On clicking at “Submit Request”, the applicant has to fill the required details on the page that will appear.
